A film that has been critically acclaimed and earned Brie Larson an Oscar for her performance as the mother, Ma, caring for her five-year-old son, Jack, while imprisoned in a sealed 'room' after being abducted seven years previously.

She has managed to transform this living hell into a fairytale for Jack where she tells him tales of Wonderland, and of outer space, the planets and heaven. And in time she tells him about Grandma's house, a place to where they can escape, and where the room of her own childhood awaits.

Although this plot parallels appalling real life stories, this isn't a horror film, neither is it about crime or captivity, as such. It focusses on how the human spirit can transcend physical boundaries, and does so beautifully.

The performances from Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay, as Jack, have been described as perfect, and reviews have been universally positive. This is certainly a film not to be missed.
