”Florence Foster Jenkins"

Meryl Streep plays Florence Foster Jenkins, a real-life character who was a patron of the arts in New York in the first half of the last century but also fancied herself a singer. She most definitively wasn’t, but she truly believed she was good, and money can go a long way toward bolstering any delusion. In 1944 Jenkins effectively bought her way onto the Carnegie Hall stage, performing an awful concert that became the stuff of legend.

At private recitals, her devoted husband and manager, St Clair Bayfield, played by Hugh Grant, managed to protect Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to have her first public concert at the Carnegie Hall, St Clair realised he had perhaps allowed things to go a little too far.
