“Before I Go To Sleep”
Forty-year-old Christine Lucas wakes up in bed with a man she does not know, in an unfamiliar house. The man explains that he is her husband, Ben, and that she suffered brain damage from a car accident ten years ago. Christine wakes up every morning with no memory of her life from her early twenties onwards. Every morning, after she wakes up, Ben has to explain to her what has happened.
Ben is helping her to regain her memory, but she is also seeing a neurologist at the local hospital, without Ben’s knowledge. She has memories of a friend, Claire, but when she asks Ben about Claire he doesn’t seem to helpful. She also realises she had a child, but Ben tells her that he died of meningitis. From this point Christine starts to have doubts about Ben, and their relationship becomes even more strained. In fact she doesn’t know who to trust.
This is an intriguing drama, extremely well acted by Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Mark Strong, and like all good dramas it will keep you guessing right until the end.
